The Irish Patients’ Association is welcoming the move to appoint a specialist team’s to assess overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick.

Record trolley numbers have been recorded at the Dooradoyle facility several times in recent months, peaking at 126 last week.

It’s resulted in a significant reduction in scheduled care this week, with the the UL Hospitals Group saying it’s prioritising time-critical care for the sickest patients,
