Health Minister Says Reconfiguration Of Services In MidWest ‘Not Done In Right Way’

The Minister for Health says the reconfiguration of hospital services in the Mid-West was ‘not done in the right way’.

Speaking in the Dáil, Minister Stephen Donnelly says that while the remodelling of healthcare provision at the region’s hospitals follows best practive, it shouldn’t have happened before sufficient resources were put in place to facilitate a smooth transition.

It follows a protest in Limerick city last weekend staged by the MidWest Hospital campaign where thousands marched to highlight chronic capacity issues at University Hospital Limerick.
