An expert team tasked with examining overcrowding issues at University Hospital Limerick is set to present a preliminary report to the Health Minister this week.

In correspondence to Oireachtas members seen by Clare FM, Minister Stephen Donnelly says the report will outline ‘opportunities for improvement and what additional supports and changes are required’ at the facility.

It’s understood that the availability of consultants and the level of discharges and diagnostics during weekends is also being examined.

Addressing Clare Independent TD Michael McNamara in the Dail, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says different systems may need to be developed within the UL Hospitals Group.
