Ennis General Upgrades Won’t Lead To Level Three Designation

Health officials have ruled out any prospect of Ennis General Hospital being upgraded to a Level 3 Hospital, despite planned upgrades to surgical theatres there.

The investment, which has already been approved, will allow for more work to be carried out at the hospital and is being broadly welcomed.

But despite hopes from some quarters that it could allow for an upgrade of the hospital – one that would permit the return of full-time A&E care in Ennis – health officials have told Clare’s local representatives that this won’t occur.
