Clare Schools To Close After Positive Tests For Coronavirus

Parents of children attending a number of Clare schools have been informed that they are to shut tomorrow, following positive tests for the COVID-19 virus in the area.

While the HSE is only stating that the latest cases of the virus discovered in Ireland are ‘in the west’, Clare FM understands that the two males and two females affected are a family living in Clare.

On Wednesday night, one primary school and another secondary school, both in North Clare, informed parents by text message that they are to shut for fourteen days after a pupil in each school tested positive for the virus.

A number of pupils from another primary school, who have come into contact with students from the first primary school, are also being instructed to absent themselves from school for a number of days as a result.

At least one more second level school is also closed on Thursday, pending advice from health authorities.

Other schools may also be affected.

All of the schools concerned are in North-West Clare.

Clare FM is not identifying the schools in question at this time, but their names are being circulated widely in the local area and on social media.
