Clare Election Candidate Calls For Increase In Number Of GP Places

A Clare election candidate is calling for an increase in the number of GP places available across the country.

Doonbeg’s Rita McInerney, who is running for Fianna Fáil, says a number of local GPs who she has met on the campaign trail feel abandoned and are seriously concerned about the future of the services they provide.

Her party’s election manifesto promises a new GP contract to underpin General Practice for the next 30 years and an increase in the rural GP allowance, to help futureproof the sector.
