Calls For HSE To Make St. Joseph’s An Elective Only Hospital For MidWest Following Health Minister Response

A Clare Councillor is calling on the HSE to turn St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis into an elective-only hospital.

It follows correspondence on behalf of the Health Minister to Clare County Council, which appears to rule out the possibility of developing such a facility in the MidWest, clarifying that ‘no other locations are under active consideration’.

Under the Sláintecare plan, increased elective capacity will be provided at Cork, Dublin and Galway, but renewed calls have been made by the UL Hospital’s Group, medical experts and political figures for a similar development in Limerick.
