The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital remains extremely high, heading into the weekend.

The latest INMO figures show there were 84 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 44 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is more than double the next highest facility, on a day when 386 patients were waiting to be admitted nationally.
