81 Patients On Trolleys At UHL

There’s been a significant spike in trolley numbers at University Hospital Limerick.

The latest INMO figures show 81 patients were left waiting for a bed at the region’s main hospital this morning, 40 of those in the emergency department alone.

The overall figure is the second highest recorded at the Dooradoyle facility this year, following a record breaking 92 in early January.

Today’s figure brings the total number on trolleys at UHL so far this year to 2,243, which represents a 27% jump on the same period in 2019.
