The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is on the rise once again.

The latest figures from the INMO show 74 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 44 of those in the emergency department alone.

The overall figure is 16 more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 552 patients have been left waiting to on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
