The level of overcrowding has dipped at the region’s main hospital, but nurses say University Hospital Limerick remains the busiest in the country.

The latest INMO figures show 57 patients were left waiting for beds at the Dooradoyle facility this morning, 43 of those in the emergency department.

The overall figure, which represents a drop of 2 on yesterday’s figure, is 13 more than the next busiest hospital today and comes on a day when 534 patients have been left waiting on trolleys across the country.
