57 On Trolleys At Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say there’s been a significant drop in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.

But University Hospital Limerick remains the busiest in the country, according to the latest INMO figures, with 57 patients were left waiting for beds there this morning.

Its down from a record-breaking high of 85 at the beginning of the week.

Visiting restrictions remain in place at the Dooradoyle facility, following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug on one of the wards.

Only one visitor per patient is allowed in unaffected areas, while children are not allowed to visit the hospital.
