37% Increase In UHL Overcrowding In August Compared To Last Year

Overcrowding at the region’s main hospital jumped by 37 percent in August compared to the same month last year.

New figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 1,130 patients were without a hospital bed at University Hospital Limerick last month, compared to 823 in 2021.

UHL was the second most overcrowded hospital in the country in August, with only University Hospital Galway having a higher number of patients on trolleys.
