University Hospital Limerick accounts for more than half of the patients on trolleys nationwide today, though trolley numbers remain at unusually low levels.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, there were 26 patients nationwide being treated on trolleys this morning, 14 of those at the region’s main hospital.

With COVID-19 continuing to impact on the number of people presenting at hospital, today’s figure is in stark contrast to this day last year, when 478 were admitted on trolleys; 61 of those in UHL.
