The health watchdog is criticising an East Clare nursing home for failing to prove it deals with complaints in a “timely, supportive and effective manner.”
The Health Information and Quality Authority has found the Lakes Nursing Home in Killaloe to be non-compliant in six areas following its recent unannounced inspection of the facility.
HIQA visited the Lakes Nursing Home on Hill Road, Killaloe, on March 9th of this year for an unannounced inspection.
A total of 55 residents were present on the day, and inspectors said they observed that they were “supported to enjoy a satisfactory quality of life”, with some informing inspectors thay they were “very happy” living there.
Some raised issues with inspectors however, and HIQA found the centre non-compliant with six regulations, namely governance and management, notification of incidents, compliants procedure, premises, individual assessment and care plan, and protection.
Inspectors said “the management systems in place to recognise and respond to complaints did not ensure that complaints and concerns were acted upon in a timely, supportive and effective manner”
The centre was found fully compliant in staffing, insurance, visits and health care, and just substantially compliant in training and staff development, and records.
The provider, Elder Nursing Homes Limited, has submitted a compliance plan to HIQA which outlines how the issued will be addressed.
