Health Watchdog Criticises Galway Hospital Over Toilet Facilities

A hospital group has been criticised by the health watchdog for inadequate toilet facilities.

HIQA says too many patients at Galway University Hospitals are sharing toilets and it’s adding to the spread of the superbug CPE.

The warning is contained in a new series of reports out today on five major hospitals around the country.

They include Tallaght Hospital in Dublin which had issues around equipment hygiene,and the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where there were problems with the storage of equipment.

Inspectors paid surprise visits to the hospitals between April and May this year.
