Health Minister Suggests Modular Units To House Midwest Patients

Meanwhile, the Health Minister has suggested that modular units could be developed to house patients at hospitals in the Mid West, in a bid to boost capacity.

Minister Simon Harris likened the potential development to a so-called ‘patient hotel’ that’s due to open this year in Clonmel.

There, an estimated 10 million euro will be spent on progressing the unit which will accommodate suitable patients who are recovering from or waiting for procedures.

Minister Harris has been asked if he would consider a similar option at University Hospital Limerick, or at one of the other hospitals in the UL group.
