The Minister for Health says some hospitals in Ireland have more than halved the numbers waiting on trolleys this year while other’s numbers are running out of control.

Simon Harris named Beaumont, Connolly and St Vincents in Dublin and Mayo and Cavan as 5 hospitals that have fewer patients on trolleys despite more patients coming through the doors and no extra beds.

University Hospital Limerick has been the busiest in the country for much of this year, and that’s the case again today with a total of 49 patients on trolleys – 26 of those in the hospital’s Emergency Department.
