Health Minister Insists That Management At UHL Are Taking Steps To Ease Overcrowding

The Minister for Health is insiting that Management at University Hospital Limerick is making every effort to reduce trolley numbers there.

The hospital was the most overcrowded in the country for two days this week and yesterday 30 people were waiting for beds, 17 of those in the Emergency Department.

Nurses have also expressed fears that the facility will hemorrhage staff to if steps aren't taken to improve the level of overcrowding and staffing levels.

The issue has been raised in the Dail where Deputy Catherine Byrne, speaking on behalf of Minister Simon Harris, outlined the efforts being made to tackle the problem.
