James Reilly says he is seeking reassurances that the protocols in place are sufficient – after equipment used on a patient with the disease was used on other people.
The Health Service Executive says the patients who could be at risk of contracting CJD are being informed today.
Minister Reilly says there was nothing to suggest at the time that the patient was suffering from the brain disease.
