Health Minister defends deal over swine flu vaccine.

The Minister for Health James Reilly has defended a Department of Health decision to sign an indemnity deal with the makers of the Pandemrix swine flu vaccine.

27 cases of narcolepsy have been confirmed in Ireland – as a result of the jab – with most of these cases among children and teenagers.

Minister James Reilly says he isn’t ruling anything in – or out – when it comes to compensation for those effected.

But he says signing the deal – which happened before his time in office – was the right thing to do.
