Head of Kilrush Gardai says public should not worry despite closure of Carrigaholt station

The head of the Kilrush Garda District says there should be no concerns over the safety of people or services due to the closure of the Carrigaholt station this week.

After 84 year of community based policing it shuts its doors for the final time tomorrow as part of major cuts in all department announced in the budget.

During a special edition of Morning Focus from Carrigaholt, Superintendent Gerry Wall of the Kilrush Garda Division reassured those living in the area that despite the closure – there will be a visible police presence through the local community alert scheme
