Tony O’Brien was speaking after reports found that medical staff at a number of hospitals, including the region’s maternity hospital in Limerick, aren’t washing their hands enough – and risk passing on infections.
Mr. O’Brien told the Irish Independent he was ‘concerned by the reports’ – and that the HSE will engage with hospitals to ensure they have a ‘robust plan’ in place as well as seeing what ‘barriers’ are preventing them from meeting the hygiene guidelines.
