A South Clare resident awoke to find a group of masked men attempting to burgle their home.
In the early hours of Monday morning, three men wearing balaclavas gained entry to a home in the Dun Aras Estate at Hurlers Cross in Newmarket on Fergus, by damaging the front door lock.
They fled the scene after being disturbed by the householder.
The incident, which happened in the early hours of Monday morning, is one of two burglaries on the same night under investigation, with a home in Orchard View, Clarecastle targeted just after 2am.
Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Catriona Holohan is appealing to anyone with information on the Newmarket on Fergus incident to come forward.
“Shannon Gardaí are appealing to anyone that was in this area in the early hours of yesterday morning that may have observed three males on foot or in a vehicle near to the Dun Aras estate.
“We are also appealing to anyone that was driving in the area and has Dash-Cam footage, to please contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365 900.”
Ennis Gardaí are investigating the burglary that took place in Orchard View, Clarecastle just after 2am on Monday morning.
The injured party woke to noises in their home and discovered the front door open, but the perpetrator had fled the scene and no damage was caused to the property.
It’s believed the householder’s electric bike may have been the target of the burglary.
Ennis Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have observed any person in the Orchard View estate in Clarecastle or any vehicle in the area after midnight on Sunday night, the early hours of Monday morning to please contact them.
They’re also appealing to anyone that has Dash-Cam footage on their vehicle to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 68 48 100.
