It’s hoped the problem of flooding in Ennis will remain a thing of the past as the next phase of protection works along the River Fergus is announced in the coming months.
The Minister with responsibility for the Office of Public Works has said further re-enforcements to the river wall will begin later this year, and that funding of over 7 million euro is ring-fenced for the project.
Minister Brian Hayes inspected the first phase of the flood protection works in Ennis at the weekend, and told Clare FM the government is committed to finishing the job to protect local homes and businesses.
