Harty Fears Farmers Facing ‘Frightening Challenge’ In Face Of CAP Reduction

Clare’s Independent TD fears farmers are facing a frightening challenge ahead with cuts to the Common Agricultural Policu budget.

The European Union has announced that the money allocated to CAP will be scaled back by 5 percent.

It’s currently worth around 12 billion euro to the Irish economy each year and it’s feared a reduction of that same figure will be experienced across the union.

Tánaiste Simon Coveney has blamed it on the fact that savings need to be made because of Britain’s EU exit but Dr Michael Harty is concerned:
