Harris Urged To Review Ennis General Opening Hours ‘Now Not Later’

The Health Minister has stopped short of saying the opening hours at Ennis General Hospital will be extended to help alleviate overcrowding in Limerick.

In a letter to Clare County Council, Simon Harris says while there are no plans to extend the hours of the Local Injury Unit in Ennis, his department will be looking at the entire network of these units and Ennis can then be considered.

His comments come as University Hospital Limerick continues to suffer from the worst levels of overcrowding nationwide, with regular calls here for Ennis to be utilised to offset that problem.
