Marian Harkin has been returned to the European Parliament after a recheck of ballots in the Midlands North West constituency.

The final stage of the process began yesterday morning and continued through much of the night.
The Independent candidate has thanked her supporters through her Twitter feed, noting that she's the last MEP to be elected across Europe.
It means that out of 11 Irish seats, 4 have been filled by Fine Gael, 3 by Sinn Fein, 1 by Fianna Fáil and three seats have gone to Independent candidates.
