More Than Half A Million Euro Granted For Clare Under Local Imrpovement Scheme

More than half a million euro has been granted to Clare County Council for improvement works on rural roads and laneways.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys has today announced 11 million euro under the Local Improvement Scheme, with close to 583,000 of that earmarked for this county.

The funding supports the continued improvement of non-public roads and lanes that are not normally maintained by the local authorities, with many prividing access to homes and farms, as well as outdoor amenities such as lakes, rivers or beaches.

The scheme is already oversubscribed in Clare, and welcoming the funding, Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has epxressed hope that the additional funding will help clear the backlog so that new applications can be considered.
