These statistics from the CSO show 144 houses were given the green light in Clare between July and September, with 79 of those being one off houses.

It’s sure to be in the back of the minds of some Clare Councillors who are continuing to seek legal advice in respect of some aspects of the County Development Plan 2023 to 2029 that’s currently on the table.

The overall number, while a slight drop on the previous three months here, is a 25 percent jump on the same time period in 2020, and a near doubling of 2019’s figure.

8 private flats and/or apartments were given planning permission by Clare County Council in the third quarter of 2022, a number that’s remained relatively static in the past number of years.

Just 11 local authorities granted more permissions for houses between July and September than this county, which has seen more activity than the likes of Kerry, Cork City and South Dublin.
