Half a million euro has been earmarked for eight community projects in South East Clare.
The funding has been announced as part of the Limerick Hinterland Project which will see 2.3 million euro being distributed by the Government to sixteen projects in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary.
It follows a study commissioned by Limerick City and County Council last year examining the socio-economic relationship between the city and communities on it's outskirts.
Killaloe, Shannon, Parteen, Westbury, Gillogue and Meelick will each receive a portion of the money which will be matched by Clare County Council, bringing the overall spend in this county to one million euro.
Clare's Junior Minister Pat Breen is welcoming the announcement.
