Hail Blamed For M18 Accidents

The NRA has blamed freak hailstone storms for a higher rate of traffic accidents on one section of the M18 motorway.

The NRA has also been told by Met Eireann that these short, intense showers are virtually impossible to predict.

The road was closed after one such shower in January, while wintry conditions in February of last year led to five crashes in a ten-minute period.

Separately, the NRA is again being asked to address the concerns of Clare County Councillors, despite refusing invitations to appear before one of their meetings so far.
