Greman President To Arrive In Ireland

The German President begins a state visit to Ireland today, on a three-day trip which will include engagements in Clare.

The trip by President Joachim Gauck aims to build on the close ties between Germany and Ireland – and will begin with a formal welcome at Áras an Uachtaráin this afternoon.

Wednesday will see the President travel to the West, along with his partner Daniela Schadt.

He will accept an honorary degree from NUI Galway before travelling to North Clare for a visit to a farm in Ballyvaughan and also the Cliffs of Moher.
