The Green Party says it hopes the Oireachtas will accept new proposals on water charges.
The expert commission yesterday recommended that there should be charges for wasteful use, but that regular use should be paid for through general taxation.
It also suggested that public ownership of water should be more fully addressed by the Special Oireachtas Committee.
Leader of the Green Party Eamon Ryan says we have to make the proposals economically and practically viable.
