Green Party Focus Should Remain On Government Talks Not Leadership – Garvey

Clare’s Green Party Councillor has played down talk of a split within the party, and says their focus should remain on Government formation talks and not on the party’s leadership.

It comes as a number of Green Party members are calling for Eamon Ryan to be replaced as leader by his current Number Two, Catherine Martin.

Under party rules, a leadership election must take place within six months of a general election, and a vote is due to take place in August.

Inagh Councillor Roisín Garvey questioned whether Catherine Martin has adequate leadership qualities, but admits that Eamonn Ryan has made errors on some issues.

She has been speaking with Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill.
