The HSE has been given the green light for a three-storey extension at Ennis General Hospital.
The development will now pave the way for two new operating theatres at a first floor level as well as a first stage recovery unit, while a a Central Sterile Services Department will be established on the ground floor of the new build.
Tthe works to be carried out will also involve upgrades to existing on-site accommodation and the refurbishment of the external walls of the main hospital building.
