Green light given for clean up of Kinvara bay

The government has given the green light for the construction of a treatment plant to end the discharge of raw sewerage into Kinvara Bay.

5.2 million euro is to be spent on the facility, which aims to end the current situation whereby 60,000 gallons of sewerage flow into the bay daily.

It’s hoped that construction on the facility will begin next summer – the news has been welcomed by Galway East TD and Junior Minister Ciaran Cannon.
