In a joint bid, lodged all the way back in December 2024, Custy Construction LTD and John Talty Construction LTD sought permission to deliver 55 new homes in the Ballymaley and Ballycorey area.

In a protracted process, however, and after receiving twelve public submissions the local authority requested further information, citing concerns over a potential proliferation of boundary walls.

Subsequently, Clare County Council has this week granted planning permission for 53 homes only, which will still involve a mixture of four-bed and three-bed properties.

As part of the developer’s Part V planning agreement. meanwhile, at least 10 of the houses will be used for social or affordable housing.

130 parking spaces are also proposed for the works that would take place on a site of over 3.5 hectares and the estate will be furnished with roads, public lighting, footpaths, cycle paths and a bat house.
