An Ennis housing estate has been honoured as the greenest and most sustainable community in Ireland.
An Sean Dún, located just off the Tulla Road, was the unanimous choice as the Calor Sustainable Community Champion 2014.

Residents there developed household sustainability packs, which contained water, waste and energy saving devices which saw the estate conserve over half a million litres of water and 29,000 kWhrs of saved energy per year.
They've now been awarded 7500 euro, which is to be shared by 18 schools in and around Ennis so that they too can deliver sustainable projects and educational awareness programmes.
