European leaders say they WILL stand by Greece – as it fights to avoid defaulting on its debt.
German leader Angela Merkel and French President Nicholas Sarkozy were speaking last night following a tele-conference with the Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou.
The call was held amid fears the country could leave the Euro.
Mr. Papandreou has now renewed his promise that Greece would meet the terms of their EU-IMF bailout package.
But there are growing fears that the crisis on the continent could effect the global economy.
Meanwhile, the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Olli Rehn will this morning publish the Commission’s latest economic forecast in Brussels.
It comes ahead of a meeting of EU Finance Ministers in Poland tomorrow which will be dominated by the eurozone crisis.
