Grave concern has been expressed for the future of the West Clare Railway Greenway.
It’s after Transport Infrastructure Ireland rejected a funding application from Clare County Council to progress the Ennistymon to Moyasta section of the route.

TII has granted over €1.3m in funding to advance works along the Kilkee to Kilrush and Ennis to Ennistymon sections this year, and says it will give “consideration” to funding the route to Moyasta in 2026.
Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney says local businesses are depending on the project to be delivered on time.
