Granny Flat Grant Would ‘Help Elderly Live Out Lives At Home’

Flats, housing,
It’s claimed the so-called ‘granny flat grant’ will help elderly people in Clare live out their lives in their own homes.
The Independent Alliance has proposed the move, which would see tax breaks given to the elderly who convert their home into smaller housing units.
It’s hoped it could play a part in addressing the housing crisis, as well as be of assistance to older people living in unmanageable larger homes.
The scheme is estimated to cost between 15 and 20 million euro and Stella O’Gorman from the Clare Older People’s Council says it would be welcome news to pensioners and their families.
