‘Grace’ Terms Of Reference Withdrawn

The proposed terms of reference for the Grace inquiry have been withdrawn.

Junior minister Finian McGrath has agreed to ask the Cabinet to revise the terms, so that the treatment of other victims is also included.

A special cabinet meeting is likely for later today to sign off on the revised inquiry.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that one person removed from the same care home had to be moved to Northern Ireland, because the local health board would offer no further care.

In the Dáil, Clare’s Independent TD has said the case illustrates a lack of Governance, accountability and transparency within the HSE.

Speaking in the Dáil, Dr Michael Harty said there’s a litany of mismanagement within the HSE, accusing it of becoming impersonal, detached and unresponsive.
