The prospect of a GP candidate in the general election in Clare seems more likely, following last night's No Doctor, No Village campaign meeting in Corofin.
Over 500 public representatives, doctors and members of the public were in attendance at the meeting which heard a demand that key supports for rural doctors be re-instated within two weeks and not at the conclusion of the current talks on a new GP contract.
The meeting heard that a nationwide campaign is forming on this issue, with similar meetings due to be held throughout the country.
Ballyvaughan GP Dr Liam Glynn says a decision on whether to field a candidate here will have to be made in the very near future.
