The government has ruled out releasing a state-owned home in Ennis for use by a community group.
It had been proposed that the home, which is located near the town's Garda Station be used by a group of former reservists.
The government had been asked for an update on a building known as the Old Sergeant's House or Abbeyville House.
It's located adjacent to Ennis Garda Station, and dates back to the 1750s.
Fianna Fáil's Timmy Dooley had asked Sean Canney, the Minister responsible for the OPW, whether he would consider an application to temporarily lease the building to the Clare 22nd Battalion Association, a group which is made up of former reserve defence forces members.
The building had been formerly been used by the FCA, and an application to return it to use by the 22nd Battallion group had been made in January of last year.
However, this week Minister Canney has said the property is being retained for State use for the purpose of meeting future accomodation needs.
