The government is being urged to support aviation companies to take on apprentices in the coming years.
Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has highlighted to the Dáil that firms based near Shannon Airport have significantly scaled back the number of apprentices that they are taking on this year, as a result of the COVID pandemic.
While he accepts this is not without good cause, he’s urging the government to step up supports in the years to come to help both the companies concerned and potential apprentices.
