Farming representatives in Clare say the sector is in crisis, while the Agriculture Minister has recently held high-level round-table talks in a bid to kick-start trade.
Around 100,000 families are involved in the sector with beef exports valued at more than 2 billion euros last year.
Labour's Michael McNamara says it'll be some time yet before a solution is found, but feels an increased level of live exports will be important in this.
