Government Support Needed For Council To Run Heritage Sites Until They’re Profitable Again – Dowling

The CEO of Clare County Council says State financial support will be needed for them to run Shannon Heritage sites until they return to profitability.

It’s understood negotiations between the Government and the local authority to transfer the ownership of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, Knappogue Castle and Craggaunowen from Shannon Group are at an advanced stage.

Clare County Council has told Clare FM that ‘a national funding package’, understood to be five million euro for the first year and three million euro in each of the two years after, is necessary for the transfer to go ahead.
