Government Rejects Call For Cap On Number of Asylum Seekers In Lisdoon

The government is rejecting calls for a cap of 30 on the number of asylum seekers that will be accommodated at a direct provision centre in Lisdoonvarna.

The first group of 30 people, made up of families, are due to arrive at the King Thomond Hotel when the facility opens on Monday and Lisdoonvarna Fáilte has called for this number to grow no further.

However, the contract for the centre allows for up to 115 to be accommodated there and now the call for a cap has been rebuffed.
