Government put foward plans to deal with mortgage arrears

The Government will outline plans later it hopes will deal with those unable to pay their mortgages.

Banks will be ordered to deal with a certain number of distressed home-owners every three months.

But it’s leading to fears of widespread repossessions – though the Taoiseach says that will not happen in the vast majority of cases.
